Classroom Teachers
- Teachers will have more control over how they are paid every year. In addition to their base salary, they can earn annual bonuses for taking on leadership duties, teaching in hard-to-fill positions, or for working in a school that as a whole demonstrates academic growth or overall student achievement.
- The state will provide additional funding for math and science teachers or math and science courses.
- Teachers will have access to state-of-the-art technology to use in the classroom to engage students and make lessons come to life.
- Seniority will no longer be a factor in reduction in force policies.
- The minimum salary for teachers will increase to $30,000, and the state has put a mechanism in place to continue increasing the minimum in the future.
- Every high school teacher will receive a mobile computing device.
- The Mathematical Thinking for Instruction course will count toward education experience on the salary grid.
